M/ Carolean Jacket
Description
This is if not the most recognisable Swedish uniforms of all times then it is at least the top contender. The m/ replaced the previous older version from the late 17th century. The changes from the m/ are minor with the most notable one being smaller cuffs. This uniform was used during the last 14 years of the Carolean period in Swedish history. It represented Sweden all over Europe, but also made a short friendly visit in todays Turkey. It is the blue and yellow version that is by far the most recognisable. However, not all Swedish uniforms at the time were blue and yellow. The colour scheme could differ depending on the regiment and army function. For instance, Nerike-Wermland had blue uniforms with red details as seen in the picture above.
M/ was used for a long period of time, even outliving the Carolean period, before it was replaced in M/ itself only had minor changes in the grand schemes of things. M/ is truly a uniform that has not been forgotten by history.
